Ferrellgas, a national propane retailer, is seeking a Training & Development Designer to design and develop training materials and employee development programs within the organization. The ideal candidate will have strong people and adult-learning-principles delivery skills, and must have the ability to partner with various stakeholders to plan, deliver, test, deploy, and improve learning solutions. The Training & Development Designer will need to roll up their sleeves and have a high level of ownership and accountability to be a part of the Employee Development Department. They will need to have the ability to diagnose issues and influence solutions/outcomes. They must be able to interface effectively with employees at all levels of the organization. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and at least 1-3 years' experience creating training materials.

  • Develops in-house training programs as assigned. Ensures the instructional integrity of training and course development projects through defined standards, systematic design and clear, concise writing of scripts, narratives and storyboards to ensure continued quality and speed of delivery.
  • Produces training initiatives to be delivered online, through CD or in the classroom. Programs will prepare employees to provide exceptional customer service, promote Ferrellgas products & services, and operate company systems & software applications.
  • Works with management and subject matter experts to ensure materials are current and relevant to training needs.
  • Assists in finding and evaluating training programs and materials.
  • Gathers and analyzes information to determine employee training needs.
  • Communicates frequently and effectively with managers and employees to ensure that goals and objectives are being achieved.
  • Conducts internal training programs occasionally.
  • Provides instruction and guidance to trainers.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Communications, Graphic Design or related field.
  • 1-3 years' experience.
  • Experience in a learning management system (LMS), use of SilkRoad a plus.
  • Experience with Articulate Storyline, GoAnimate, and Adobe products a plus.
  • Well organized with the ability to prioritize and organize work, meet tight deadlines, adapt to shifting deadlines, and successfully function within a team environment
  • Ability to recommend learning & development interventions after analysis of problem and consideration of alternative solutions
  • Experience with instructional design a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong planning and organizing skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Experience in project management, training and curriculum development preferred.
