Job Summary:
Under general direction of the SVP Sales, the Blue Rhino National Account Manager creates strategic relationships with existing customers and develops a plan to grow new national and large regional accounts. This person will actively work with the Blue Rhino Marketing team to establish programs to grow existing sales through mutually agreed to programs with customers. The incumbent will utilize targeted reporting information and work with a National Account Coordinator who will support them on business reviews and general operational needs across their accounts. He or she will be involved in cost/price negotiations with customers to help maintain profitable margin growth, and is also responsible for prospecting new account opportunities within their territory. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Business/Marketing and 2-5+ years of Consumer Product Goods (CPG) sales account and/or marketing account management experience.
Essential Functions:
  • Implements strategies and sales plans to maintain and profitably grow Blue Rhino sales with national and regional accounts.
  • Collaborates with a National Account Coordinator to support business needs.
  • Collaborates with SVP Sales Blue Rhino and other Blue Rhino Sales team members.
  • Manages key category management relationships within current customer base, and across various departments at those customers.
  • Works on key project initiatives for Blue Rhino:
  • Increases comp store sales with existing customers.
  • Increases relationship penetration within existing customer base at all levels.
  • Leverages contact list with past experience or existing customers to generate new leads.
  • Keeps competitors at bay with defensive strategies to support existing accounts.
  • Aggressively looks to increase new customer and locations within their markets.
  • Works with the Ferrellgas Operations teams (Service Centers) to add density of locations in markets to help create efficiencies with deliveries in targeted areas.
  • Works with Blue Rhino and Ferrellgas Sales and Operations teams in a collaborative manner to creatively think of ways to grow our total company business.
  • Leverages trade associations and other affiliations to grow existing and new account business.
  • Ability to manage financial cost accounting information and determine ROI.
  • Ability to interact with category buyers and business analysts.
  • Ability to travel for special project work and interaction with Field Operations/Delivery network.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment handling multiple tasks.
  • Identifies, analyzes and addresses business issues and competitive market situations.
  • Maximizes company profitability through win-win programs with customers.
Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or marketing
  • 2-5+ years with CPG sales account management and/or marketing account management experience.
  • Experience in developing and implementing sales strategy and plans
  • Worked with Scan Based Trading/POS driven programs
  • Understands CPG store environment and customers/consumers
  • Strong PC skills including proficiencies in MS Office
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
  • Category management background a plus
  • Sales training programs completed with previous positions preferred
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Salesforce.com CRM experience a plus
  • Contract management software experience a plus
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal skills
